tonight i looked at this photo on my web site and thought, dear Pearl, my elder, friend and teacher. the first guest on the Joyfuel Kindcast, and the eldest friend I have. how are you? i sent my thoughts to her, and then went back to my work.
it’s been 18 months since we spoke.
then, 2 minutes later, my phone rang. 9:21 pm this evening. i answered…
“Hello, this is Pearl Schechter. May I speak to Becky?”
I could hardly answer her, for the joy that bubbled up inside!
Pearl is calling me. She had been thinking of me and hoped it wasn’t too late to call.
I literally could barely speak for the first few minutes of our 15 minute call–in shock of her call. It was a gift alike the synchronicity of how we met all those years ago.
Pearl’s connection to me, her response to my mental call to her, and the wisdom of the elders dictates I share Pearl’s interview with you right now. Pearl offers medicine for all of us right now, for our joy and our mental sanity.

Pearl told me tonight she hopes to turn 101 in a few months. We need to protect and care for our world’s most vulnerable, like Pearl. Please stay home for Pearl and all the older people (and those at risk) whom we love. By staying home you will never know how many people you might save, but we WILL save lives for certain, by staying home together.
