wisdom of elders Pearl Schechter

dear ones,
tonight i looked at this photo on my web site and thought, dear Pearl, my elder, friend and teacher. the first guest on the Joyfuel Kindcast, and the eldest friend I have. how are you? i sent my thoughts to her, and then went back to my work.
it’s been 18 months since we spoke.

then, 2 minutes later, my phone rang. 9:21 pm this evening. i answered…

“Hello, this is Pearl Schechter. May I speak to Becky?”

I could hardly answer her, for the joy that bubbled up inside!
Pearl is calling me. She had been thinking of me and hoped it wasn’t too late to call.
I literally could barely speak for the first few minutes of our 15 minute call–in shock of her call. It was a gift alike the synchronicity of how we met all those years ago.
Pearl’s connection to me, her response to my mental call to her, and the wisdom of the elders dictates I share Pearl’s interview with you right now. Pearl offers medicine for all of us right now, for our joy and our mental sanity.
Our audio interview appears below. Pearl was on the Joyfuel Kindcast, sharing a beautiful deep conversation that became our very first episode in 2014. We talked about kindness, joy and her husband’s wisdom “Never worry in advance.”
Please listen and let me know how she makes you feel. Let me know any questions or messages you might have for Pearl.
And please hold Pearl in your thoughts and pray with me for Pearl’s safety. Let’s take seriously the warnings and advice to stay home and flatten the curve of Covid-19.  Pearl told me tonight she hopes to turn 101 in a few months.  We need to protect and care for our world’s most vulnerable, like Pearl. Please stay home for Pearl and all the older people (and those at risk) whom we love. By staying home you will never know how many people you might save, but we WILL save lives for certain, by staying home together.

How to listen:

a joyfuel wish

Dear KindHearts,

I’m making a wish… a wish for our collective JOY. Human Joy is something we need to cultivate, nurture and protect; our personal joy and the joy of others.

My wish is truly for your joy.

Acting towards my wish I’m working super hard behind the scenes on the JOYFUeL Kindcast–a podcast series coming out later this year–all for JOY! How does this description sound? Does it sound like something you’d enJOY? Appreciate your input 🙂

The Joyfuel Kindcast is an independent podcast series sharing personal stories of people intentionally generating kindness or creativity anywhere on earth. We uplift ideas, thoughts and actions that increase human and global kindness, creativity, presence and joy.

much love for our joy,
becky suzik

Who Who on the Joyfuel Kindcast Season Two

Dear Joyfuellers,

When the Joyfuel ecourse came out in 2014 I acted on impulse and instinct and pieced together an interview series featuring people who are committed to living their lives infused by the essences of joy, kindness and creativity. The series the JOYFUEL KINDCAST operated on the currency of LOVE necessitating.experimentation with different FREE recording platforms and modalities. The result was the first season of the Joyfuel Kindcast. I am deeply grateful to everyone who committed their time, thoughts  and lives to share with me and listeners in our little video series.

I learned so much in the process; about creativity, music, kindness, art, and also about the act of making something as meaningful as possible with very limited resources… learning about good enough for LOVE and GIFT. Together we made and shared something very special.

Season TWO of the Joyfuel Kindcast is now gestating. For our new season I pass the producer’s role to you! WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR ON THE NEXT SEASON OF JOYFUEL KINDCAST?  We want to feature your neighbors, teachers, friends—perhaps even YOU–on the program. We are looking for YOUTH and adults from all over our world. Please take a moment to think and fill out this form to submit your nomination for the Joyfuel Kindcast. (Be sure to hit “Submit” at the bottom of the page.)

Thank you SO MUCH for your ideas and suggestions!

In Joy,
Becky j. Suzik
